BOASTING OR SHOWOFF IN ISLAM

Islam is a religion that highly promotes goodness morality in its followers. Islam comprises of two main sources of guidance and supervision, i.e. Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) both of them guide believers to adopt and follow righteousness and abstain from all the prohibitions and wrongdoings. It means a person should enthusiastically go for performing noble deeds and actions without any kind of delay of time as there might be lack of willingness with the time passes.

But there is also a great point of focus of not publicizing your good deeds when committed. When a person commit sin then he hides it from others is easily understood but keeping your good deeds and acts also secret is somewhat that is not realized by many of us. Riya or Showing off refers to doing act or deed that is pleasing to ALLAH Almighty with the intention of seeking praise and admiration from others. The intention in these cases is usually to show off his or her good deeds just to win admiration and praise of other people.

It amounts to practicing good and virtue out of vanity, with just the aim of achieving good reputation and popularity among people. Considering the worldly and temporary nature of things, our main concern and focus instead should be on the long-term rewards, and thus to involve in doing good deeds to earn pleasure of ALLAH Almighty because that can benefit us in both the worlds here and hereafter. Show off makes us focus on earning praise and appreciation from other people rather than seeking favour and acceptance of ALLAH Almighty.

It makes us to get appreciation of people’s of our good and virtuous acts, which clearly means that we give importance to them and their appreciations. Ignorance about the serious matter that how showing off will be punished in the life Hereafter and this obliviousness can lead a person to commit the sin. We must understand and realize that it cancels out the reward and blessings of all our good deeds, and brings the wrath of ALLAH Almighty. Not any sensible Muslim would like to waste energy and time in doing that which does not bring any reward, and obviously would not like to afford anger of ALLAH Almighty.

But Satan is aware that how easy it is to fill human’s hearts with pride and vanity and he arouses in us the wish and desire for a reputation and good name, making our virtuous deeds fruitless, by creating our distance with ALLAH Almighty. Boaster or showing off is greatly forbidden in Islam. But unfortunately, many of us, unknowingly or knowingly, fall in this crime in our lives. We forget that while we are doing any act to acquire pleasure of ALLAH Almighty, we are also wasting our time and efforts by making our deeds public just for the sake of self-esteem.

In Islam To Perform Daily Namaz Five Times

In Islam to perform daily namaz five times Muslim turn their faces towards Qibla. The qiblah is the direction that each and Muslims from any corner of the world face when performing ritual prayer, Qibla is facing the Holy Kaaba in city Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Performing namaz in Masjid with congregation is highly recommended in religion Islam, Muslim stand in straight rows, all Muslims face in a single direction either they are black or white, rich or poor. The imam, who led namaz stands in front of the rows, he also facing the similar direction. In the early years of religion Islam, the direction or qiblah of namaz was towards the masjid in city of Jerusalem.

In 624 C.E the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received a revelation from ALLAH Almighty to change the direction or Qibla towards the Holy Kaaba, The House of ALLAH in city Makkah. It is believed that having a direction or qibla gives Muslims a way to achieve unity and perform namaz in one direction. Although the direction or qiblah that Muslims faces towards the Holy Kaaba in city Makkah, it should be clearly noted that Muslims direct worship only ALLAH Almighty. The Holy Kaaba is the House of ALLAH Almighty, is merely a center and focal point for the Muslims of entire world. The direction or the qiblah is also marked sometimes in the front of the masjid with an ornamental indentation on the wall that is well known as a mihrab.

When travelling, Muslims sometimes get into difficulty in determining the direction or Qiblah of their new location. Many different companies offer small hand compasses for find out the direction or Qiblah, but it can be hard and confusing for those people who are unfamiliar with their use and locating the exact location. Sometimes for the easiness a compass is sewn or attached into the center of a prayer rug (use for performing namaz) for finding the correct direction.

Now because of technological advancement many Muslims now use their smart phones, taps etc to determine the qiblah location for performing namaz. Islam is a true religion of unity. Muslims are united by their Imaan or belief in One True ALLAH Almighty. Muslims are united as one by Islam and ritual of worships and united by the direction or Qibla of worshipping ALLAH Almighty. There is huge population of Muslims in this world, and each and every time when Muslim prays, they turn their faces in one Qibla or direction, towards the Holy city Makkah. When a Muslim intends to perform namaz, no matter either he or she is at office or at school, he turns towards his face towards qibla, the direction of the Holy Kaaba.

Generally as Salah, roza or fast, Zakat, Hajj and so many other ways of demonstrations of love, supplication is too a demonstration of love. Religion Islam is the greatest source of fortification and guidance for all humanity. Islam is the religion of peace and it teaches its followers to prostrate in front of ALLAH Almighty and act upon His teachings and commands.

Religion Islam is a complete code of life for whole world and for all humanity, it guides and throwing light on each and every aspect concerning our lives and life after death. Therefore, a person should always make dua for himself, his or her family and for all Muslim Ummah and others by having full trust on ALLAH Almighty’s guidance and help.

It includes the belief that each and every thing happens whether good or bad, favourable or unfavourable, sad or happy, physical or mentalsickness or health lies in the hands of ALLAH Almighty alone and He is the only One that makes things happen. HEALTH BENEFITS OF RECITING HOLY QURAN

The Holy Quran is the last heavenly book that ALLAH Almighty and it was revealed on our beloved Holy Prophet (PBUH) more than 1400 years ago. The Holy Quran is not just the book of virtues and blessing and but also has lots of psychological effects on the person who recites Holy Quran. The Holy Quran recitation has also numerous positive effects on the health of a Muslim in terms of heart rate, blood pressure and perceived level of stress. Perceived stress level can be defined as the level of a stress in person that is enough that a person is in stress or stressful.

* Dutch researcher name Vander Hoven conducted the research on this particular part but astonishingly he did not publish his results clearly. He only recommended, “Muslims who can read Arabic and those who recite the Holy Quran regularly can protect and guard themselves from psychological diseases.” though, he doesn’t provide any kind of evidence or specific details about the genuine effects of recitation of Holy Quran on readers.

* In another research, Yucel Saleh says that, “There are many statistical changes in human body temperature and also respiratory rate, but they are not important enough to support the positive effects of prayer on bodily well-being.” again, he fails to state what were the real results of his research and contents just on giving conflicting statements about the psychological benefits of reciting Holy Quran.

Modern study:

A study was carried out to examine the abovementioned effects of Holy Quran. The reason of this study was to do a comprehensive and complete research on the subject because earlier researches were not definite and they were low in excellence. Summarizing the result of this research, researcher describes that, “the recent study found statistically important changes of physiological situation, and the study also supports the hypothesis or theory that prayer does have positive effects on physiology.”

Authentic investigate:

This research was conducted in the University of Salford, United Kingdom. In this study, 15 female and 15 male Muslim psychology students were included and the study consisted of 2 parts. The initial part was further divided into 2 conditions. In first conditions the perceived stress level, heart rate, and blood pressure of participants were checked after and before reciting the Holy Quran. In the second condition, identical factors were checked before and after reciting a non-religious book in an Arabic text. The order of the experiment was also very interesting. Half of the students recite Holy Quran first followed by the other book. In the same way, the other contingent read non-religious book initial and then studied Holy Quran.

* Results that are obtained from the study:

Results were done after using two extensively used methods that are post hoc t-tests and ANOVA. Astonishingly enough, researchers found that blood pressure, perceived stress levels and heart rate of students dropped after reciting the Holy Quran.

* The second part of the study:

In the second part of the study, experts interviewed the students about their personal experience of reciting the Holy Quran. All of the students responded that the Holy Quran has brought a good and positive change in their lifestyle and it teaches the people to live an improved and sin free life. Most significantly, it reminds them about their belief that is Islam and takes them to their Creator and also relaxes them mentally and physically.

NAMAZ OR SALAH, WAY TO WORSHIP ALLAH

Muslims testify with faith that there is no one worthy of worship except ALLAH alone and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is messenger of ALLAH. Muslim’s fast (roza), they give in zakaat (charity), and they perform Hajj (pilgrimage) once in a lifetime, those who can afford the sacred journey. Muslims also perform namaz five times a day.

ALLAH is accessible at anytime and at any place. Muslims call on ALLAH frequently throughout the whole day and night. Muslims raise their hands for dua (supplication) and ask for mercy, help, and forgiveness from ALLAH. This is not the act that Muslims refer to prayer but this is called making dua (supplications), it’s about calling ALLAH, asking for His help. For Muslims namaz denotes as a set of ritual acts and words said during fixed times in a day and night. ALLAH says in Holy Quran in verse 4:103

And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides. But when you become secure, re-establish [regular] prayer. Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.

Muslims pray Fajr in the early morning before dawn, zohar in the middle of the day, Asar in the evening, Maghrib at sunset and Isha at night. Muslims performs all the namaz in obedience to ALLAH because ALLAH has created humankind, universe each and everything. ALLAH says in Holy Quran, verse 51:56;

And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.

For a believer of Islam, worship is a way of spending life. Performing namaz at fixed and specific times serves as a reminder that why we are here and it also helps to direct thoughts and actions of a person away from sin, evil acts and thinking, namaz put a person onto remembrance of ALLAH.

Namaz is just a single act among many acts of worship but it holds a very important and special status in Islam. It was not brought down on earth by an Angel but it was bestowed upon Prophet (PBUH). Fifty namaz were first enjoined upon the Muslims but this was reduced to five, whereas the reward for namaz remains as if it were still for fifty. This reduction of namaz shows that how great ALLAH’S love for humanity is, few minutes in the whole day is rewarded as continuous worship.

All Muslims performs namaz five times in a day. It is recommended that men should pray namaz in a masjid (mosque) in a congregation of men, although women have the option of offering namaz at home. When Muslim prays they address ALLAH in Arabic language and they use the same words, postures and movements as every other Muslim do. All Muslims unite in the language and ritual of namaz. For performing namaz Muslims faces the direction towards the Holy House of ALLAH, known as the Kaaba. Every Muslim should offer all namaz if he or she wants to enter in Jannah.

I Want To Go To Ka’bah Again

You know that there are several things in the world which can excite you but hearing a headline that you are going to the house of Allah can excite you more than anything in the world. I am blessed that I heard this good news about two years ago and it was a priceless moment of my life and I still feel the excitement of that moment. I was in last year of my graduation when I got this beautiful chance of Umrah. I can say that I was a religious person but Allah knows better. I was going with my family and it was my first tour to Makkah and that’s why my happiness was unlimited. My friends gave me a list of their prayers and I was so nervous about my tour.

I reached to the house of Allah and took a long breathe because I couldn’t find words. I saw that people are worshipping Allah (SWT) and they do not have any concern about other people. I mean they were not staring at us like people do in Pakistan. We usually have a habit that we stare every person walking at the road or entering in the Masjid. But I felt happy that people in the house of Allah were minding their own business.

I saw men with down eyes and it was really a wonderful view for me. Anyways we started Umrah and after the completion of Umrah we took a rest in our room. I usually speak a lot but now I don’t know that where have my words gone. Places that give us a unique wonderful experience are hard to define. Though I always considered myself a religious person but I never did hijab in my life and when I was in Makkah, I found that women with covered head and body automatically receive respect from men and I realized that why men were used to stare at me in Pakistan.

It was my fault to not cover my head and that’s why I failed to get respect. But after realizing this reality, whenever I have to go outside I make sure that my head and body is covered. I think that experience of Umrah teaches everybody a unique and new lesson. When I was in Makkah, my routine was very good and I was trying to obey Allah Almighty because that place has something special.

Now my routine is different but I always try to make a habit of reading Quran on daily basis because I still miss the house of Allah and want to go to Ka’bah again. I still feel the air of Madina and really want to visit again. When I was in Makkah, I forgot all my tensions and I experienced a peace in my heart and I think that peace is only in the house of Allah because there are countless blessings of Allah (SWT) and everybody desires to spend their days and nights in that peaceful environment.

History of Umrah

Word Umrah is deriverd form I’timaar that means visit but in Islamic term it means minor pilgrimage or visiting Bai-tul-Haram. Umrah should be done once in life or if a person have well enough money to spend on umrah then he or she should perform this as many as they can. Muslims from all over the world come to perform umrah in order to worship ALLAH.

"---accomplish Hajj and Umrah to please Allah". (Al-Baqrah, 196)

Every year thousands of pilgrims perform tawaaf (circumambulation) of Kaaba and walking between safa and marwa . Our Prophet (peace be upon him) performed umrah more than one time and we are following him as he taught us to perform. Hajj only perform in month of zilhaj but in case of umrah it can be perform through out the year. Performing umrah in Ramadan is considered as equal to hajj. Umrah is not imperative like hajj but it is sunnat-e-moaqqida.

There are many rituals of umrah in which some basic are discussing here, Pilgrims wear ihram at Meeqat to start performing the steps of umrah and then they move towards Haram for tawaaf after doing Tawaaf pilgrims perform Salat (namaz) behind Muqaame-Ibrahim. After namaz pilgrims moves for doing Sai i.e. that is done by running in between the mountains of safa and marwaa, next stage is to do Halq, halq is about shaving the head as ALLAH tells us.

Performing umrah helps pilgrim to remove their minor and major sins. Pilgrims are gifted with the great honour because their journey and acts are totally for the sake of ALLAH. Umrah is not just ibadat but it’s a connection of pilgrim with ALLAH, pure sole and clean intentions are required for this.

Umrah is based on very simple steps that include too many physical movements, mental activity and lot of walking. Cleanliness is the basic root for performing any act of Islam, for umrah it is also recommended to be proper clean and cut nails. Umrah has 2 types i.e. Umrah that is done independently of hajj called al-Umrat al mufradah, and umrah that is performed in conjunction with hajj called Umrat al-tammatu.
